Located in the San Bernardino County of California, the community of Bloomington is home to just over 23,000 inhabitants according to the 2010 census. Bloomington’s neighbors include the cities of Fontana and Rialto. The community was initially surveyed in 1888 as part of a development by the then Semi-Tropic Land and Water Company now known as the West Valley Water District. However, rail access would come more than two decades later when the railroad built by the Riverside Portland Cement Company was opened up in Bloomington.

Unlike many other places in the United States having the same name, Bloomington is unincorporated meaning it lacks a municipal government of its own and can therefore not be correctly described as a town or city. Attempts to incorporate Bloomington occurred both in 1989 and 2007 and both of them failed. The community’s justice is taken care of by the San Bernardino County Fontana Sheriff Station while the San Bernardino County Fire Department provides emergency service in the case of fire. The Community Hospital of San Bernardino is the closest medical centre and is approximately seven miles away, other medical centers are Loma Linda University Medical Center and St. Bernadine Medical Center.

Bloomington’s educational district is the Colton Joint Unified School District this consists of all levels of school except higher education. For higher education nearby schools are University of California-Riverside and San Bernardino Valley College. Bloomington’s attractions are chiefly parks among which are the Kessler and Ayala Parks.

Transport in Bloomington is facilitated by the Omnitrans bus service. Interstate ten of the San Bernardino Freeway passes by Bloomington. The nearby airports are the Rialto Municipal Airport and San Bernardino International Airport. The majority of Bloomington’s population is Hispanic. Whites, Blacks, Asians, Native American and Pacific Islanders are the other racial groups. Listed among primary jobs in Bloomington are auto parts dealers, mechanics and others transportation related services.
