The city of Carson is in Los Angeles county, California, and is about nineteen miles to the north of downtown Los Angeles. Carson was unincorporated for many years, until 1968, when the citizens voted to have it incorporated as a city. On the same day, they also voted to name the city after either the Carson family, or the Dominguez Family. These were two influential families in the city. The city has a population of  about 91,714 persons.

Carson is a manufacturing community, with about half of its land devoted to refineries, factories, and other industries. After incorporation, the city put in strict building and landscaping codes. This gave the city a better appearance, as modernizations, and overall improvements of the industrial parks took place.

The first air show ever held in the United States, was held in the city of Carson in 1910, and the site is now a California Historical Landmark. Other attractions include the Dominguez Ranch Adobe, Western Museum of Flight, the Museum of Cultural Diversity, and the Long Beach Aquarium of the Pacific. There are also many major attractions, within an hour's drive. There's Disneyland, Knotts Berry Farm, Universal Studios, and the Los Angeles Zoo, to name a few.
