Clovis is a city in California located in the midst of the agriculturally rich San Joaquin Valley. It is bisected by the state's main highways. The name Clovis originated from one of the city's earliest residents and was used as a freight stop along the San Joaquin Railroad. The city's development started with the grain production and livestock industries. Clovis was promoted to a city in 1912 but still maintains its small town image.
