Cypress is a city inside California located in the northern region of Orange County.The original inhabitants of Cypress were the Gabrieleno Indians. When Mexico gained independence in 1821, the Spanish control over the area ended. Cypress was originally named Waterville due to the number of artesian wells in the area.
The town's name was changed to Dairy City in 1956 by local farmers. After World War II ended, the land became too valuable for farming and rearing livestock, and the dairies owners sold their properties to housing developers. By the 1970's, all the dairies were gone.
