The city of Gridley is located is a city located in the south of California in the United States. It is situated in the metropolitan area of Chico Paradise. A 2010 estimate places the population at a little above 5300 residents. The city is named after its founder George W. Gridley who was trying to herd sheep from California to Illinois and failed. He then decided to settle in what is now known as the Gridley area. He went back to Illinois and returned with more sheep and constructed a bungalow. The Central Pacific Railroad being built in the 1870s saw an influx of residents. The Sacramento International Airport is the nearest airport.
