Hayword was once popularly known as Haywards, Haywood and Hayward Station. Situated in the East Bay of Alameda County in California, the city has a population of 144,186 people.

As the third largest city in the county of Alameda and the sixth largest in the Bay of San Francisco, Hayword carries a ranking of being the 37th most popular area in the California municipality. Although the city suffered a serious setback in 1868 because of the Hayword Earthquake, it came back to being a most desirable location for visitors and locals alike.
