The small city of Loomis can be found in Placer County, seven miles to the northeast of Roseville, California. Despite its size, this city has a rich history and possesses a sophisticated and artistic culture. Loomis was founded in 1851, and was named in honor of Jim Loomis, who was both a railroad agent and a postmaster. The town was formed from sections of Yuba and Sutter Counties. Today, the population stands at less than 6,500.
