Merced is a city located in the San Joaquin Valley of central California. The city is situated southeast of San Francisco. Merced is located along the California State Highway. There are a few people who work from home in Merced. A lot of the town's citizens either ride bikes or walk to work. Because of the economy, most people rarely use the public trasportation that was put in place. Residents are able to afford housing, and an average number of people live on their own. The population of Merced is 63,893 residents living in the city.
