Perris is in Riverside County. The city is 10 miles south of Moreno Valley and 15 miles southeast of Riverside, all in California. The city is a part of the Riverside-San Bernardino metropolitan area. Perris is a racially diverse city with a strong Hispanic influence in this area. It is also a big regional distribution center.

History

Spanish explorers found gold in the hilly interior of this geographic area. Therefore, a small mining industry developed. The city was named after Fred T. Perris, who was once the chief engineer in the California Southern Railroad. The railroad was responsible for the town experiencing a massive development from 1886 onwards. Unfortunately, frequent thunderstorms destroyed the train line. The primary crops grown in Perris were sugar beets and potatoes.
