The city of Roseville is located in Placer County, California and forms part of the Sacramento metropolitan area. The city was first noted as a stage coach station and was initially known as Griders as its official name. For many years the city was only known as a minute shipping point for roughly 250 people and they were brought supplies they needed for their farms and ranches.  Later with the arrival of the railroad the name of the city was changed to Junction and subsequently to Roseville. The city’s first post office opened its doors in 1864, and Roseville was formally made a city in 1909.
